► If you were asked to cosplay as a female anime/manga/game character for an entire con, which one(s) would you be okay with?
I actually sorta look like Miyako from Pani Poni Dash already, just, a guy, obviously. So she'd be something I could manage that wouldn't look completely off.
I wouldn't be adverse to cosplaying as any female character, really, as long as I looked halfway decent as her. I'd welcome being able to understand what girls go through when it comes to stuff like high heels and things like that, just to relate better. I'm sure no matter what, I'd have some interesting new perspectives by the end of the con.
► If you and Krile could have your honeymoon in any of the video game worlds, which one would it be in?
Oh, this is a tough one because there are so many. It's a hard choice between a world where nothing bad would happen during the honeymoon and one where it'd be exciting enough. Maybe something like... going through a Pokemon game together? Lots of fun, cute adventures without any real risk involved. And plenty of stops at Pokemon Centers
► What was the first video game you remember ever playing in your tiny Slime days?
I remember seeing arcade games like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man when my parents would take me to places that had them (pizza places, back then, often did) and so I probably played something like that first. But in terms of the first game I really remember playing, it was the original Super Mario Brothers on the NES. I got that for my birthday that year, and a couple of days later on Christmas we got R.C. Pro-Am to go along with it.
► Do you speak a foreign language? If not, which language would you want to pick up first if you could?
Yeah, my major was Spanish and my minor was Japanese in college, so I can speak a bit of both (Spanish MUCH more than Japanese). Ideally I'd like to get a job at some point that used one or the other (or both), but I enjoy keeping up with my skills at the moment, at least. I really wish my Japanese was better, though.
Other than that, languages like Arabic, German, and Chinese compete for the spot of "next on the list" in my brain.
► I will ask everyone this question: What's your favorite Pokémon of each generation?
Okay this is hard as hell for me, so I promise I'll try to limit it to at least three of each gen. My love cannot be contained...
1st gen: Probably Jolteon overall, although I'm a big fan of my Charmander starter and its evolutions.
2nd gen: Xatu, Octillery, Typhlosion... so many good ones in Johto <3
3rd gen: Um, Numel and Breloom... also Skitty because of Krile.
4th gen: BUIZEL, BABY. It's my favorite Pokemon of them all. Easy one.
5th gen: Dammit, this is hard. I love Deerling, Dewott, and Emolga, among about 50 others.

Date: 2011-05-02 07:54 am (UTC)2. Going to be unoriginal and say "Man with a Machine Gun." (Laguna's battle theme from FF8.) There's probably better if I really thought about it but that one definitely comes to mind.
3. I have a stuffed penguin named (wait for it...) Pengy that I have had since my birth. And I still have some favourite games and books from my childhood, of course. But not much in total. Some girls have their whole bed covered in stuffed animals but I've never seen the point of that.
4. Oh damn, that's hard. D: I somehow accidentally got a Leon/Opera ending once, that was pretty far-fetched, but fun. I suppose I'd have to say I like Bowman/Rena and Dias/Rena. Honestly I just like Rena too. She has a fun character/clothing design, I have many ancient fanarts of her from ten years ago when I was just starting to draw. :P
Favorite SO is definitely 2. I had played a few hours of a SO1 ROM with a poor fan translation but I have to admit that I became frustrated and gave up. Now that it's remade for the PSP using SO2's graphics and engine, I'm liking it a lot more. 3 was alright, and I really liked 4's battle system and gameplay but hated most of the characters. 2 is the only one I can constantly replay though.
5. YES. PONIES. I am finally caught up on the episodes as of this evening. The show occasionally goes in a weird direction that would be really disconcerting if it weren't about such cute little animals. (Pinky Pie's nervous breakdown? That's scary shit right there.) But that just makes it even better. I am aching to draw some of the characters but have too much paid work still on my plate to justify taking the time to do so. :/

Date: 2011-05-05 09:40 pm (UTC)I've always loved Elly's look. It's very classic, yet undeniably great-looking. I think it's also much more interesting and better-looking than some generic battle bikini, myself!
I always seem to get the Leon/Opera ending when I recruit them! Honestly, getting adopted by Opera and living in some futuristic place would be a pretty awesome thing. I'm a bit jealous.
Rena's undeniably great. I never understood why the official art gave her that sword, though =p
And yeah, SO2 is the eternally best one, even though I do like them all in one capacity or another. I would love to play a translated version of Blue Sphere one of these days, just to be able to play with the SO2 crew in a new game and all.
I'd love to see your pony drawings, whenever you'd get the chance! Where would you post 'em? And yeah, the mixture of disturbing and cute is probably why the show is so entertaining to me, among other reasons xD

Date: 2011-05-06 06:05 am (UTC)It's mostly furry nonsense, I'm afraid. Not your bag, I'm sure. :P http://leahtaur.deviantart.com/
I actually really enjoy drawing game/anime fanart and just humans in general but furry art is what I am invariably commissioned to do!
You are making me want to start yet another SO2 file, damn you. I just wrecked my perfect Suikoden 2 file by letting Nanami die and then saving over it because I forgot that wasn't supposed to happen. ;_;

Date: 2011-05-06 06:58 am (UTC)Hey, you'd be surprised at my varied tastes! Your art is freaking amazing, by the way. I mean, damn. Now I really want to see what you can do with our beloved ponies <3
Haha, oops, did I do that? Maybe you can use an unusual combination of characters or try some kind of challenge to make it worthwhile? And ouch, I hate messing up saves I've worked hard on! I thought you just had to get all 108 stars for everything to work out okay...? I never did finish my perfect Suikoden II save, got lost searching for the Mukumukus and I was never seen again xD

Date: 2011-05-06 09:11 am (UTC)Oh, thank you. :) The ponies are so simple, maybe I can squeeze some art in here and there anyway.
No no, it wasn't you, I just meant that I messed up my file the other day. I'm so close I might as well finish, I was just hoping to port over my "good" save to Suikoden 3, which I have also never finished... I did get all 108 stars but then I allowed Nanami to die (you're supposed to call out to her, evidently) and now I'm at 107. Boohoo.
I'm looking forward to our group gaming session. :) About how many people have expressed interest? Half a dozen or so? Should be fun!

Date: 2011-05-06 03:49 pm (UTC)And yeah, we've got a little group so far, but once I officially make the community here (soonish), I'll put the word out and we might get a few more ;D It's gonna be fun times, for sure~
(That was me who started watching you on Deviantart, by the way. The little yellow kitty. Yeah, that's me)

►What's one anime/game/whatever guy that a lot of girls think is hot but you just don't see it...?
►Going along those lines, the one girl from anime/games/etc that you could definitely develop a girlcrush for, if you don't have one already?
►What's a Spanish word that you actually think sounds kind of odd, compared to its English counterpart? What one English word/phrase will never be as good as its Spanish version?
►Obligatory pony question goes here! Have you seen it yet? Or do we need to sit down and have... a talk? xD

Date: 2011-05-12 11:42 pm (UTC)1. Gen I : Pikachu (go figure.. )
Gen II : Misdreavus
Gen:III : Tochic
Gen IV: Lucario
Gen V: XD I'll get back to you after I play it
2. I've find this too often among fangirls of any given fandom and could name a few. But the one that tops it is
- Sasuke from Naruto (really now...the manga has been going for God knows how long and he just doesn't change...)
3. Hah hah hah. I think to this day I still have a girlcrush on Dark Magician Girl. Now I watch the YGO series dub and all seems so bogus and cliche, it's a wonder why I obsessed at the time. But I still love watching DMG-- she was just cute and cool and always will be.
4. Ooh...tough one on this one. Hmnn. Well there's quite a few, but for now I'll go with "masmorras" which means "dungeon" in Spanish, something I encounter all the time in Wold of Warcraft. For some reason it just doesn't seem to have that "creepy, dark feeling" when I hear the word "dungeon." (probably cuz it sounds very close to a Chilean dish called "mazamorra" and I knew it before "masmorra") I had to mentally train myself to say it, but it's also why I probably not played in a Spanish server...I fail at Spanish game terminology!
As far as Spanish sayings, there's many of them that will never sound as good. But two good ones I can think of is "Donde manda capitan, no manda marinero" (Where the captain comands, the sailor does not) and "Se pueden ir a freir monos a Guayaquil" ;D I leave you that one to translate and and figure out.
5. Erm.....no...XD that's why I was taking so long just to reply to you. Sowwy! I haven't forgetten about it. XD I just never get to it like everything else. If I say that I've been watching old-school, 30 year old Candy Candy classic anime will you forgive me? D:

Date: 2011-05-13 12:57 am (UTC)The logo on the back of Sasuke's shirt looks like a melted Pokeball... 'nuff said about him. I think being from a hugely-popular series probably makes him irritating to anyone who doesn't like him! You can't escape him no matter what you do.
DMG is the best, seriously. Not only is she cute yet sexy, but getting with her would get you one step closer to Yami! xD I'm pretty sure Krile would agree with you on this one.
Ahh, I have always seen "calabozo" used for "dungeon", which I think does a better job of being creepy-sounding. I wonder what the difference between the two words really is? Like, why would WoW use one and not the other?
I want to play a Spanish version of one of those RPGs I've played a million times just to see which words they choose, now...
That's a great saying, and yeah, it's something that just... works better in its native language. I remember learning the phrase conquistadors used to say, "A la espada y el compás, más y más y más y más". It just... isn't the same translated. Loses that rhyming, for one thing!
... I don't know what frying monkeys has to do with anything, I'm guessing it's one of those colloquial expressions that makes no literal sense XD My braiiiin~
I've just googled Candy Candy, it looks adorable! I guess it's an appropriate substitute until you sit down and watch some ponies... FOR NOW! >:D

Date: 2011-05-13 02:37 am (UTC)Although I gotta say that gothic lolita Pokemon and all the evolutions call out to me. XD I'm sure you could've guessed that.
=/ but you know me-- I'm "anti-fandom of the moment" and hardly ever get into anything that's the hype of the moment. But Sasuke is kinda like Tea from YGO. In the great words of Solid Snake "Just. Don't. Like. Him."
"Calabozo" -- my gosh-- I've not heard that word in years I completely forgotten about it! O_o honestly if I'd remember that one instead of learning "masmorras" I think I'd use it instead. However from the gamers at my uncle's PC room when visiting Chile, I think gamers stick to "masmorras" regardless of the local Spanish. Then again, "calabozo" also goes on to mean a "prison" in a deep dark place. I guess in context close enough, but that's the beauty of getting lost in translation= it's all in the eye of the user.
XD that's probably the funniest colloquial expression I know. I don't think it's is just from Chile, but many Spanish speaking countries. It basically means the same as saying "you can stick it where the sun don't shine," -- you just don't care what they've got to say about whatever.
Trust me it makes no literal sense to me either, but that's what makes it funny. XD I guess because literally sending monkeys to fry up in Guayaquil (super far off in Ecuardor I think) is so absurd and makes no sense, just as the person you're trying to tell...well ya know XD
But it always makes people laugh when I translate that one, heh heh. One day I'll get around to finding definitions to all those wacky sayings.
XP I'll watch them Ponies. I've seen a few clips, so yeah looks cool and defo reminds me of PPG. As far as Candy Candy, this is one series that would've been wonderful to seen in English, as the whole story takes place mostly in America and England and there's NOTHING Japanese about it. But hey, I was happy to find it in the original Spanish I got to see when I was a kid. Now as an adult is cool to re-watch and understand more of the locations in America now that I live here. :) so it's been a very enriching retro moment as I watch this.

Date: 2011-05-13 03:51 am (UTC)I don't think I could bring myself to like Sasuke or anyone like him, really. He's just... trying too hard. We get it, you're a "bad boy" and the "rival". Now go away.
I kind of doubt he gets the same kind of treatment that Tea did back then, though... a shame >;D
The thing about the word "dungeon" in English is that it's technically supposed to be a prison... but RPGs use that term for anything, including wide-open spaces! Anywhere to explore where there are monsters to fight, pretty much. It's not really translation-friendly as a result.
I googled that saying and apparently you can replace Guayaquil with other "far-off" places and I guess it must mean the same thing xD I mean, if you live near Guayaquil, it must not seem like that big of a deal...
My big Pony post from a while back has all the relevant links to download the episodes from, so reference that when you're ready ;D
Sounds like fun times with Candy Candy! It's always a blast to revisit childhood favorites and find new ways to appreciate them. Funny how the Wikipedia page for it specifically mentions Chile! No wonder you got into it.
