30 Days of Video Games Day Five: A game that really reminds you of someone

Magic School LUNAR! Now, here's a game that really reminds me of someone,
krile. You see, this woman is outright obsessed with this game. She knows everything there is to know about it, and that's saying a lot, considering she can't read much Japanese. She not only owns the original Game Gear and Saturn versions, but a Japanese Saturn to play it on. Just for this game.
She got interested in it while we were still just chatting online together, so it's something we both discovered at the same time and share as an interest. That's one of the main reasons it reminds me so much of her. There's also the fact that she will name just about any redheaded video game girl "Elie", when given the chance, after this game's main character. She also modeled her entire Dragon Quest IX party after characters from this game. As you can see, she simply won't allow me to ever forget that this game exist, and that she's the world's #1 fan of it.
Another contributing factor is all the merchandise from this game she owns. She owns a vast majority of all the items ever produced based on this game, which is a rather impressive feat considering she had to hunt it all down online and import the stuff from Japan. She's scanned in countless pages of artwork, and maintained a website all about this game for a long time. If she DOESN'T own something to do with LMS, she knows about it, but just hasn't had the opportunity to get a hold of it yet. She's also got a Youtube channel filled with all the cutscenes ripped from the game, which you really can't find elsewhere, at least not so easily. Yeah, she's dedicated, all right. She's a verifiable expert on this subject.
So that's why Magic School LUNAR! is the easiest damn entry in this meme that I'll ever do, because the answer is so obvious to me. I can't think of this game without thinking of her, they're just forever linked together in my head.

Date: 2010-11-04 08:15 pm (UTC)Magic School Lunar is a fun game, it's definitely more worthy of a re-release than Dragon Song's mere existence, that's for sure.
