I think Capcom knows that there are a lot of gamers who grew up with 8-bit games like Mega Man and would be thrilled to see a new game like that in this day and age. I also think a lot of gamers wish games could be simpler and more focused on the actual gameplay rather than flashy graphics sometimes.
I love games both old and new, but it's really interesting to see what is essentially an NES game come out in 2008 and still keep all the charm and fun of the older generation. I mean, they could've easily tried to make a really flashy game that would be more like we'd expect, but that wouldn't be nearly as amusing. I'm sure there are kids out there wondering what the hell is going on and why everyone seems to be excited over this crappy looking game xD
