slimequest: (If only I was a real Jet)

I've been sick since Wednesday night, urgghh. I mean that actual night was a fever and all, but the symptoms have been sticking with me every day since then. It kind of sucks! Not to mention that I had to work this weekend, because I could sure use the time to rest or something. Oh well! Today I'm feeling better than usual so hopefully that is a good sign.

My use of the Jet icon is also appropriate because I've been a good boy and stuck to playing Wild Arms 3 for the past few days! Progress! One of these days I'm thinking of writing a "faq" about how to get back into games that are in your backlog and complete them, because I'm becoming an expert xD;

I got my house to its biggest size in Animal Crossing: Wild World, which kind of makes me want to scale back all the work I've been doing in the game xD; I kind of want to take a "break", though I'll still check my town every day. But no more marathon, 1 hour + long fruit picking sessions for a while. I've picked up Magical Starsign again anyway, which I hope to finish this time!

Finally, from Somethingawful's One-Sentence Reviews:

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Manages to be better than Final Fantasy VII, earning a spot in the prestigious and exclusive "Every Halfway Decent And Comprehensible Video Game Released In The Last Ten Years" club. 8/10

I'm not a member of the rabid "ff7 sux" club or anything, but I was amused.

Here is where I show off my new icon.

What would be put in your FAQ? "Tear self away from other games and force into your gaming system"? Because that's what I'd write.

The moment I saw that you saved this picture, I knew it would become an icon of yours.

Well actually, I find that using a walkthrough or even shelling out cash for the strategy guide of the game you're trying to get back into and finish helps a LOT, because then you at least have a clear idea of where to go and what to do. If you're picking the game back up after months/years and you can't even remember what the battle system is like, it's kind of unrealistic to expect yourself to also remember what some random townsperson told you to do next.

Plus, even though I like playing games and figuring out things on my own, playing along with a strategy guide can be very fun in its own way. I remember I used to do that when Nintendo Power would give out strategy guides for NES and SNES games. I read the whole Super Mario Bros. 3 guide before I got the game, so I knew just what to do when I finally got it XD It helped pass the time until I got my grubby hands on it, at least.
