Yay for.. stuff
Dec. 14th, 2003 10:22 pmThis week is the 100th anniversary of the first airplane flight, by Wilbur and Orville Wright. So, what does this have to do with anything? Well, Kitty Hawk (where that flight took place) is just the next town over from me. So everyone and their grandma is coming here to watch the celebration, including a re-inactment of that historic flight. Fancypants people like the President of the United States and John Travolta will be there, among others.
And, I work in a hotel. Everything down here is booked solid for the whole week, and I get to check in each and every last one of them. Yay?
Actually it's not been that bad so far, most people have been pretty nice and friendly. We'll see what happens tomorrow, though >;o
Of course the funny thing is that the people who live here most likely won't get to see any of this celebration, since they'll be working the whole time (where I live is literally dead during the winter, in fact my work is usually closed now). It's just like in summer, it's so busy that nobody gets a chance to go to the beach even though we live right on it. Go figure.
Still, although I don't care that much about the whole thing, I'm going to be on a plane Thursday, so... thanks Wright brothers. Or something.
