30 Days of Video Games Day Six: Favorite puzzle game
Puzzle games are kind of an odd genre for me. I typically don't go looking for one to play, so much as I stumble onto them randomly and get into them. Once that happens I enjoy them well enough, though. I think the last puzzle game I actually asked for or purchased for myself was... the NES version of Dr. Mario? Yeah.
But there's one game I discovered that has become THE ULTIMATE PUZZLE GAME

You might've played some weakassed altered version called "Tetris Attack", but make no mistake, THIS is the real deal, accept no substitutions.
The intense gameplay is only furthered by the fact that you play as ~*~cute little fairies~*~, which might initially make you think this game is tame or easy. But it can get pretty fucking brutal, don't be fooled!
You might recognize Lip and some of the music from Smash Brothers Melee/Brawl, which is a nice little bonus, too. The other music from the game is pretty catchy and the graphics are probably the cutest a SNES game could hope to achieve. Many other puzzle games have generic pieces with no characters or anything involved, so Panel de Pon has a lot of unique charm as an appealing point. There's also a little storyline in 1P mode!
So basically, if you like puzzle games and cute games (like me), you will like Panel de Pon. The game was only released in this form in Japan, but there's a translation patch available so everyone can play it.
I also have to mention the Official Panel de Pon website which has a bunch of cute art, sprites, music, and other stuff. It's in Japanese but just poke around and you'll find cool stuff.
