slimequest: (Hectornyoro~n)

[livejournal.com profile] krile did a bit of camwhoring and showed off some of our combined gifts, so I'll just be lazy and list some of the other things that I got. I'll take any gift photo requests, of course.

So, where to begin? I guess my biggest haul this year was a PSP. There just ended up being too many interesting games out for it, plus now with FFT being rereleased on it, it's pretty much mandatory. It's certainly a sexy piece of hardware, I've been playing with the controls and setting more than the actual games it seems!

Probably my most looked-forward to game for it was Megaman: Powered Up, which was actually given to me for my birthday. So I have basically been staring at it for the past couple days before the holiday. It's a remake of the original Mega Man with a million bonus things throw in, plus they made him look even more cute and shota somehow. You even get to play as the robot masters and Roll, so what's not to like? I also got the remake of Megaman X, Megaman X: Maverick Hunter, which is already such an awesome game to begin with anyway.

I also recieved Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (with preorder bonus, naturally), which is a big test on my PSP control skillz since I'm so new to it, but it seems really interesting so far. MGS3 was by far my favorite so far in the series, so the direct sequel was a must-have for me. I haven't played this game much yet due to the aformentioned newbieness with the PSP, but I'll surely enjoy it later on.

As the pictures on Krile's entry show, we also imported a couple RPGs from the strange land of Europe to round out the collection. It's interesting how the packaging and stuff are in so many different languages. I'm almost tempted to play them in Spanish, but then again it'd be Spain Spanish which is weird. "Vosotros" my ass. /languages major derail over

So, yes, the PSP is a welcome addition to my handheld collection. I really do hope some more interesting games come out for it. I'm certainly open to any suggestions people on my FL might have on great games I should pick up.

Of course, I also couldn't leave the DS out in the cold. Besides Rocket Slime and Castlevania: PoR I got for my birthday, I got Mario Hoops: 3 on 3 for Christmas. This game is pretty much like most of the other Mario sports games, incredibly fun with lots of Nintendo cameos. The interesting part is that it's developed by Square-Enix, so Final Fantasy characters like moogles and cactuars are playable. You can also unlock a ninja, white mage, and black mage, who appear to be from Final Fantasy I. You can see how the sick combination of all this makes for a rather unique game. It's fun, I have no complains.

Console games were kind of lacking this year, the one I'm focusing on right now is Final Fantasy XII. Yes, I know I'm months behind the craze. Still, this game is actually really good, I'm pleasantly surprised. Vaan might lisp HARD but at least he's no Tidus. And I'm furry for Fran, she is my fave character for sure so far. The game has enough going for it that it makes me excited for Final Fantasy again, which is saying something.

We didn't get a Wii, unfortunately. Part of me is sad because I really wanted one, but we just couldn't manage to get ahold of one. On the other hand, I think it's great that Nintendo is doing so well with it, consider its experimental nature and all. If I can manage to get one in the next month or two I'll be happy.

I suppose that covers all the interesting things I got, I'm sure you'll all be hearing about the various games as I post about them in the new year. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go and play some of them :D~
