Well, this feels odd. It's been so long since I've posted a fully-fledged journal entry that didn't amount to "hey guys is LJ still here?".
Maybe the fact that I was hospitalized for a kidney stone two weeks ago ("Hurts worse than being in labor!", a female co-worker said) has made me reflect on things a bit? Who knows. I'm fine now, by the way. I think so, anyway! No more pain at least.
It's also possible that my upcoming move from here in Connecticut to my homeworld of California has something to do with it. It's something that's been a long time coming, something that should've happened a long time ago, something that will make a part of me "right" again. Although a lot of work is involved, I do look forward to it.
Let's see... obviously, in terms of nerdy personal interests, nothing much has changed for me. I'm still all RPG RPG RPG with the occasional other type of game thrown in. So long as it's cute, I'm willing to give it a whirl.
I guess the biggest change in that department is that I now have a "gaming-class" PC, so I've begun to experiment with those kinds of games. While I've always been a console gamer, I can definitely see the advantages of gaming on a PC. "Advantages" meaning "being able to mod L4D2 to play as a cute anime girl", naturally.
But it always ends up this way in the end. My focus right now is just replaying SaGa Frontier for the bajillionth time for no real reason whatsoever. Well it IS the 15th anniversary of the game this summer, but I didn't know that when I began! Maybe I just needed a good "comfort food" game in my schedule or something.
Well, Twitter/Tumblr is still going on about the Oh-limp-icks or something so I suppose I'll go distract myself with a DS game for the time being. I'll post more soon, promise!

Date: 2012-07-28 01:45 am (UTC)Not much else to say? It's sort of a "start our marriage out on a new leaf" kind of a thing, and for me it's a bit of a "recapturing my childhood" deal since I lived there until I was 12. It remains to be seen how long this will all take, but we're making progress!

Date: 2012-07-28 01:42 am (UTC)Not that your gaming stuff isn't interesting! I must try the Saga games soon. I've been into Pokemon SoulSilver lately myself (I must be the last person on earth to get into Pokemon.)
My boyfriend has had many kidney stones, I believe you about their intensity. He has found that cutting down on pop and keeping hydrated helps as much as anything else but it's hard when pop is the default drink in so many places.

Date: 2012-07-28 01:51 am (UTC)Well, actually, I just haven't really tried to apply my education towards any other job because the dumb job I have right now is so mindless and easy. I've never been one for ambition, because at the end of the day I go home and play video games and I don't feel "defined" by my job like so many other people seem to be.
That being said, California would have many more opportunities for me in my field, I'd imagine, and I'd prefer to continue my education (if I decide to) out there, anyway!
Silver was my favorite Pokemon game, so I'm very approving of you playing Soul Silver! I'd highly recommend Black/White once you get around to it, and maybe by then Black/White 2 will be out! You can't really go wrong with any of the mainline Pokemon games, really.
The nurse that treated me DID mention too much caffeine might be the cause of my stones. I don't drink all that much coffee and I've cut down my soda consumption previously, plus I drink a decent amount of water... maybe it was just all build up from my past irresponsibilities xD
