If you're asking about if it's okay to tell other people about this: do whatever you think is best! I don't mind anyone who's interested enough to join to come play with us, and we can deal with problematic people should it come to that. Maybe I'll assign a moderator or two to the community just in case. I personally plan to announce it on Twitter/other places when it's closer to beginning, to drag a few more in with us, so yeah. I trust your judgement!
No matter what format we end up going with, I'm definitely hoping to keep things going throughout the year, although probably at a slower pace. I'd love to get together and play Sweet Home or something near Halloween, among other things. The schedule would be nice and light, for sure. No stress involved!

This is part of why I wanted to do this, so that people who have always wanted to experience 16-bit games (and other classic generations) could give themselves a reason to take the plunge. Hopefully by the time we get through this first run, you'll feel a bit more caught-up with what you missed out on back then! ;D
