Yes, so.. E3 etc etc etc.

In my educated and awesome opinion, Nintendo stole the show, quite frankly. There's really not a whole lot the competition can say, is there? Sony shot themselves in the foot not only with the console's price and the two versions of it bullshit, but then they pull out their controller. I mean, it's not so much that it's a blatant ripoff of what Nintendo is trying to do, but they did it poorly. It can't even rumble, which Sony is quick to point out is "sooo last-gen" and that the rumble would mess up the gyro-sensor things. Right, it's so last-gen that both your competitors have it, and Nintendo can have both motion-sensing and rumble.

I don't hate Sony in the least, not at all. Most of my favorite games of the past few years have been on their consoles. But they have the arrogance to say that people will work "longer and harder to afford the PS3", because obviously they're so high and mighty that no one will question them and buy it mindlessly.

I'm not going to lie, I will eventually get a PS3 as there are bound to be games that are released for it that I will want. But I'll be playing something else on launch day. The only reason I have Playstations is because that's where a majority of the RPGs are at, anyway.

Besides, Sony's consoles are pieces of crap. The only console that has ever broken on me is my original PS1. And my PS2 is slow to read discs and gives me errors unless I put it on its side. My freaking NES still works, and these modern marvels break.

And Microsoft.. oh yeah, I guess they were at E3, too. Yet again, the only thing Xbox fans can talk about is "Halo." That's all they ever talked about with the original Xbox and that's all they can talk about now. Blue Dragon looks halfway interesting but do they REALLY think that one or two RPGs are going to make Japanese people want this console? Everyone knows that the other consoles are where the RPGs are going to be. If you bought an Xbox360, you didn't buy it in anticipation of RPGs. Let us not kid ourselves here.

I don't usually pay much attention to the poll of the day at GameFAQs but it's amusing how Sony and Microsoft have nothing on Nintendo when it comes to fan's enthusiasim. In any event, if Sony loses points, Microsoft gains one or two, and Nintendo gains a lot, then that would put everyone on a fairly level field, which is better for everyone.

Speaking of Nintendo, I'm giddy as a schoolgirl. There's so many good things to look forward to, life is good.

The name "Wii" pretty much threw me for a loop when I first heard it, I didn't want to believe it, and I thought Nintendo had made a mistake. But you know what? It had time to settle in my head, and I think it works. It describes exactly what videogaming should be. Not some hardcore college kid who has played games his whole life, and developers making games to cater to people who have always been there in the gaming scene.

It's about people having fun, playing games that entertain us, making games for people of all ages and backgrounds and tastes. There are always going to be RPGs made for RPG fans and action games for action fans, but.. there's so much more games can do and be, and I really hope we get to see that happen. Isn't anyone else sick of the typical fanboys and fangirls? I want to discuss gaming with single mothers and senile war veterans. They are our future. Well, maybe not. But I want to see new and fun games, dammit. I think we all want to see new and interesting ideas put into our games to freshen things up, whether you're a hardcore gamer or not.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl = yay. I'm not OMGGG over Solid Snake being playable, because I've never really played Metal Gear Solid. I played the original Metal Gear on NES, does this count? Regardless, suitless Samus wins and Meta Knight is a nice addition, along with Pit. I want to see Pit turned into an eggplant. And then humped by a Nintendog.

I'm sure 148% of people won't even know who Pit is, though. They should put Mike Jones from Startropics in SSBB, goddammit. Although he's even more obscure.

I want to see more of the Dragon Quest Wii game announced as well. I WANT TO CUT THINGS. Oh and Zelda is of course, Zelda. I'll get it for sure, but I'm not foaming at the mouth about it either. Metroid Prime 3 looks like a lot of fun to play as well.

Anyway, basically everything Nintendo showed us impressed me, and I'm planning to get a Wii on launch. I have more than enough backed-up PS2 games to keep me entertained until I REALLY need to break down and get a PS3 anyway.

I guess the bottom line is, I'm excited about games again. Not that I've ever been terribly bored of them or anything, but I think the industry needed a kick in the pants. Although I think the more "status-quo" gaming consoles are going to look a little bland compared to the Wii's capabilities, I'm still interested to see the next-next-gen of gaming as a whole. Because it always boils down to the games, and I have no doubt that we're going to see plenty of gems, whether they be improved sequels of stuff we love or brand new innovative things.
