New York Quest VIII

I'm going to be in New York next week. Like, the city. I've never been there. Naturally I'm planning to visit the Nintendo Store while I'm there... and I guess that Statue of Whatever and the Museum of Natural.. somethings.

Decided to pick up Tales of Phantasia for GBA for the trip. They really butchered the translation in places and took out fun stuff like the opening theme, renaming function and sound test. I'm really hoping they bring out the new and improved PSP version out here, but in the meantime I'm enjoying the GBA version simply for the fact that it's ToP, and portable at that.

Oh and I beat Metal Gear Solid. Meryl ending of course, but immediately krile made me promise to get the Otacon ending on the Gamecube version. Because, you know, love can bloom on the battlefield............ in the butt.

(Now I'm waiting for MGS2 to come in the mail, I actually found MGS3 at the mall so I'm in the awkward situation of being tempted to play them out of order. It might not even really matter if I do or not, but oh well~)

I think MGS3 is actually a prequel to the other two. At least I think I remember reading that somewhere.

Also deJap may have taken liberties with their translation, but at least they didn't change "Ragnarok" to "Kangaroo". I mean sheesh.

AND SOMEHOW MARIO WILL BE THERE AT THE NINTENDO STORE ZOMGGG~

Meeting Mario is one of my life's goals. What should I ask him about? Maybe how he can breathe in space in Mario Galaxy.

Is the "Ragnarok > Kangaroo"-thing the only argument you can present? If that's the only thing, then I fail to see the big deal. You could always hack the ROM and change all instances of "Kangaroo" to "Ragnarok". It's not hard to do. Or, read the letters out of order, and pretend that extra 'o' isn't there.

They also took out the renaming option and the sound test for some reason. *shrug* It doesn't bother me THAT much anyway, I already have the ROMs of all three games so.

It's just.. I mean, with all the Norse mythology already present in the game, how could they possibly screw that up? It's the only major difference I know about thus far (I saw a screenshot, and I haven't played very far yet in this version), and it's just hilariously bad.
